8 months old!

Hunter is 8 months old today and this past month has been an interesting one. For starters, Hunter has decided that veggies are not his thing and has refused them all together. He will now only eat fruits and when I try to sneak him anything other than that, he turns his head and seals his mouth shut. It has become a challenge to feed him, but I continue to try new things and hope he will come around.

Now that he is able to sit comfortably without falling over, he has discovered that he can reach for things in front of him. For a while he struggled while changing positions because his leg would get caught under him, but he now has learned to pull it out and can go from sitting position onto his belly.

From his belly he has learned to push his arms up and within the last month he has figured out how to get on all fours. He rocks back and forth and sometimes takes a "step" forward but then loses his balance and falls flat on his face. His frustration seems to get the best of him and he cries at times when he cannot do what he wants to do.

I have made an attempt to sleep train him a bit and I'm very pleased with the results! He continues to wake up several times a night, but I don't feed him, just soothe him back to sleep, and he has gotten used to the idea. He goes for about 8 hours without eating at night and seems to be doing great with it. This has also taught him to put himself back to sleep and is now taking 2-3 hour naps during the day!

Finally, after trying several types of bottles, I finally found one that he likes and he now takes the bottle even from me! This gives me great comfort knowing that I can leave him if I need to and he will be fed.

Happy 8 months little guy! I love you more than you'll ever know!

White Christmas

We finally had our first snow fall since we've been here and what better day than Christmas day! Cally was thrilled to finally be able to play and make snow angels! Thanks Santa for bringing some snow to us!

Christmas 2012

My sister and her family flew out here to spend Christmas with everyone and it was wonderful to have us all together under one roof. It was chaotic, but fun and we had a great time together visiting, catching up, cooking, shopping, and celebrating.

Just as our tradition holds, we had an amazing Christmas Eve dinner and continued celebrating while playing games until midnight. We ended our night by opening presents at midnight. Merry Christmas everyone!

Santa, of course, came by after midnight to deliver his presents to the little ones...

7 Months Old

Hunter is 7 months old today! Our happy guy is doing wonderfully we love him so much! Here's what he's been doing in the last month:

-He is now able to sit up firmly, without any props or being wobbly
-He loves playing with toys, especially those that light up and make sounds and can sit alone and be entertained for quite a while with them
-He rocks his body back and forth with excitement when you talk to him, show him a toy, or interact with him in any way. He's full of energy!
-He's eating solid foods! He eats baby oatmeal in the morning, and veggies and fruit for lunch and dinner. Feeding him, however, is a bit challenging because he doesn't really open his mouth much. I have to convince him to eat but when he does, he usually finishes the whole thing.
-He continues to be breastfed and that's definitely his preferred "food" choice
-His sleeping pattern is still not great. His naps consists of 3 to 4 30 minute catnaps every time.  It's definitely not ideal and I have attempted many measures to prolong them like white noise, darkened room, consistent routine, etc, but nothing seems to do the trick. He wakes up at exactly 30 minutes, but is happy and appears to have gotten enough rest so I'm not too concerned. His night sleeping continues to be sporadic and he wakes up several times at night to nurse back to sleep. I have yet to break him of this habit, although I have yet to attempt to break it.
-His teeth have been working overtime and within the last month, the other top three teeth have come through. He now has 4 up top, and 2 on the bottom.
-He loves watching his big sister and laughs at her when she does something silly, it's fun to watch.
-He continues to grow in size and although I have not weighed him, I can "feel" his weight gain every time I pick him up. He's a strong, big guy and I love him just like that!

I can't believe he's 7 months already! Time continues to fly by and it's been so fun! I'm so lucky!
