Zane the Shellback

I received this email from Zane and the picture the following day. 

"We are going to cross the equator soon. Traditionally this is a big deal for the Navy (and Marines on the ship) because you are a “WOG” if you haven’t crossed before and when you cross for the first time you become a “Shellback,” but in order to become a shellback you would get hazed relentlessly.  I’ve always heard you get food and garbage dumped on you and you have to crawl around in it, and stuff like that. All in good fun though. Well now that hazing is a hot topic in the DOD we are not going to do anything. I guess I will become a glorious shellback without the initiation."
